Responsibilities/Tasks
• Supervise the staff and mechanics currently engaged in work
• Modify, fix, or substitute parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
• Discuss tasks with the owner
Examine and test mechanical units to identify faults and malfunctions • Inspect car components to detect faults and malfunctions
• Observe the motor during operation
• Analyze work orders
• Conduct road tests on motor vehicles
• Evaluate automotive systems and components
• Modify, fix, or substitute parts and components of automotive systems
• Modify, fix, or substitute parts and components of truck-trailer systems
• Repair or substitute mechanical units or components
• Test and adjust repaired systems to meet the manufacturer’s specifications
• Estimate the cost of parts and labor for vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Execute scheduled maintenance services
• Test and adjust units to meet specifications
• Inform customers about the work completed and future repair needs • Complete reports to document issues and work performed
• Mentor and instruct apprentices
• Deliver customer service
