Title of position: Personal support worker

 

The candidate will provide care for an elderly woman who requires assistance with mobility, personal care, and daily activities. The client weighs approximately 140 lbs. She has a chair lift to access the second floor and bed rails to assist with transfers and mobility. She also has limited vision and hearing and requires attentive support to ensure her safety and comfort.

 

Duties:

• Administer bedside and personal care
• Administer medications
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and regular exercise, e.g. walking
• Assist with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene
• Collect specimens
• Launder clothing and household linens
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
• Plan therapeutic diets and menus
• Provide companionship
• Provide personal care

 

Terms of employment: a min of 30 hours/week, permanent, full-time, mornings, day, evening, with overtime if needed

 

Wages: $21 per hour

Education required: No degree, certificate or diploma

Work experience required: 1 month to less than 7 months of relevant experience (paid or unpaid)

Language required to do the work: English

Fluency in Vietnamese is required to communicate with person in need of care who does not speak English

Physical Requirements: The candidate must be able to provide hands-on personal care and assistance with activities of daily living. The candidate must be able to safely assist the elderly client, who weighs 140 lbs, with mobility, transfers and physical support as required. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physically demanding caregiving duties throughout the workday. The candidate must also be able to respond appropriately to the client’s changing physical and emotional needs.

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
